Terms of Use for NiosPDF

Applies to NiosPDF on Android, iOS, Windows and Mac
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Privacy policies: Android · iOS · Windows and Mac

NiosPDF ("the app") is a PDF viewer and editor made by Siddharth Pattnaik ("I", "me"). These terms explain the conditions under which you may use it. They are written to be short and plain. By installing or using the app you agree to them; if you do not agree, please do not use it.

1. Your licence to use the app

The app is free. You may install it and use it on devices you own or control, for personal or commercial work. You may not sell, rent or redistribute the app itself, or remove its copyright and licence notices. All rights not expressly granted here are reserved.

If you installed the app from an app store, that store's standard terms also apply: the Google Play Terms of Service, the Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement, or the Microsoft Store Standard Application License Terms. These terms add to the store's terms. Where the two conflict, the store's terms prevail for anything that store requires.

2. Your documents are yours

I claim no rights in the documents you open, create or edit with the app, and I never receive them; everything is processed on your device, as described in the privacy policy for your platform. You are responsible for having the right to open, edit, convert, sign and share the documents you use the app with, and for using it lawfully.

3. Keep backups, and check important results

The app changes files: it edits, merges, splits, compresses, converts, recognises text in, redacts, encrypts and signs them. It is built to leave your original intact if an operation fails, but no software is free of faults, and some results depend on the document itself. Please:

4. The AI assistant

The optional AI assistant is off by default. When you turn it on:

5. Open-source and third-party components

The app is built on open-source software and licensed fonts, listed with their licences in the app under Settings → About → Open-source licences. Those licences govern those components, and nothing in these terms limits the rights they give you.

6. Optional support

The "buy me a coffee" link in Settings, and an occasional invitation in the reader, open a payment page run by Razorpay (India) or PayPal (international) in your browser. A contribution is a voluntary gift: it does not buy, unlock or change anything in the app, and it creates no obligation to provide features, support or updates. Declining or ignoring an invitation changes nothing either. Payments are handled by Razorpay or PayPal under their own terms; if you made one by mistake, contact me and I will refund it.

7. No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. I do not promise that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with every document or device.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, documents, profits or business, arising from your use of or inability to use the app, even if I have been told such loss is possible. Because the app is free, my total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to the amount you paid for the app, which is nothing.

Some countries do not allow certain warranties to be excluded or liability to be limited. Where that is so, these terms do not take away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in, and they do not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

9. Updates and changes

I may update the app, add or remove features, or stop distributing it at any time. The app keeps working offline on your device after that. If these terms change, the new version will be published at this same address with a new "Last updated" date; continuing to use the app after that means you accept the change.

10. Ending these terms

You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. Your licence ends automatically if you breach these terms. Sections 2, 3, 7, 8 and 11 continue to apply after that.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the consumer-protection law of the country you live in requires otherwise. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms or the app can be sent to sidd.pattnaik@gmail.com.
